Therapy: Part Three of Seven

Reclaiming My Routine: What Four Days of Structure Did for Me.

After completing the first 24 hours of the detox It was important not to fall back into the same patterns. I needed something to catch me. Something to build around. That’s what Step 3 was about: reclaiming my daily rhythm.

I committed to doing it for four days straight — July 24th through the 27th — and honestly? Those four days grounded me more than I expected.

My Daily Routine

Morning: Journal

Every morning, I opened my journal and asked one question:
“What do I need today to protect my peace?”

That single prompt set the tone for the day. Some days the answer was “structure.” Others, “grace.” But every time, I started my day by getting honest with myself.

🌤 Midday: Snack + Stretch

Instead of skipping lunch or spiraling into my thoughts, I kept it simple:

  • Midday nourishment — usually Greek yogurt, fruit, and a caramel almond cluster (or a protein shake with juice).
  • Stretch or movement session — sometimes the same as morning, sometimes new.

This was about tending to my body and breaking the pattern of neglect.

🌙 Evening: Read + Shower

I didn’t close my nights with scrolling or spiraling. Instead, I picked up a book. Even if I didn’t finish it in one sitting, I read at least one chapter each night.

Then came a warm shower — a physical and mental reset before sleep. It sounds small, but it became sacred.

That was my flow. Every day, for four days.

It gave me rhythm. It gave me peace. It reminded me I have power over my habits.

And just like that, I reclaimed the parts of my day that heartbreak used to dominate.

Step 3 — complete.

Next step? Step 4: Release the Past.

What Changed

These simple routines gave me structure when my thoughts tried to pull me back into the past.

They reminded me:

  • I still have control — even when I don’t feel like it.
  • I can show up — even when it hurts.
  • I can build forward — one choice at a time.

If You’re In That Place…

Where it feels like you’re slipping or stuck — try this.

Don’t wait to feel “ready.” Just start showing up:

  • Morning: journal or pray
  • Midday: nourish and move
  • Evening: calm your mind

Repeat it. Stack the days. And soon enough, you’ll start to feel solid again.

It worked for me. And it’s something I’m still holding onto now.

Let’s keep going. Part 4
